Dear Brothers and Sisters,
First of all I wish you, your fraternities, families and friends a happy and healthy 2006. May the Lord and his infinite love be with you and all your loved ones.
Lay Dominicans in Europe
A meeting of representatives of the Lay Dominican Fraternities from the Provinces of Europe with their Promoters and guests has been held every three years since 1989. The first of these meetings was the Assembly held in Toulouse, France, followed by Budapest , Hungary in 1992, Kanie, Poland in 1995, the fourth in Vienna, Austria in 1998, the fifth in Fognano, Italy in 2001 and the sixth in Walberberg, Germany in 2004. These Assemblies were organized by volunteers in collaboration with the Brethren until after the Vienna meeting.

A. INTRODUCTION
1. Thank you. Let me begin by thanking you for inviting me to participate in this Assembly and for the privilege of working with the ECLDF during these past few years. It is truly an honor for me to be your Promoter General—and I would say, probably the best job you could get at Santa Sabina! In a special way everyone wants to thank the Dominican Laity of Germany for such a fantastic welcome and preparation of this Assembly.
