On the 6th of April it is the 116th birthday of Pier Giorgio and everybody is invited to unite in a prayer together at the same time (between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m.), in a bond with Blessed Pier Giorgio.
Pier Giorgio wrote in October 1924 to one of his closest friends, Marco Beltramo:
“I’m going up to Oropa and I’ll pray for you
at the feet of the Black Madonna, even though my prayers
are only worth a little bit, and… I’ll send you a token of
remembrance which should hopefully always bind us in a bond
that is not material: a rosary made with seeds from the garden.”
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s apparition in Fatima, where she called upon all of her children to renew their devotion to the Rosary. Pier Giorgio loved the rosary and he shared this with others.
A simple guide prepared for the occasion on the 6th of April will help to pray the rosary with Blessed Pier Giorgio together with the same words and with one heart. We shall all together pray for young people all across the world, in view of the upcoming “Synod for Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment”. We want to ask Pier Giorgio that young people may reach for the rosary with the same enthusiasm as he did – he who always carried a Rosary in his pocket – and under the care of Our Lady may discern their vocation.
