As in previous years, on this year’s Whit weekend Lay Dominicans of Slovakia met in the heart of beautiful nature in Terchova to reflect on their formation. Eva Zudorova, Lay Dominican and councilmember of the ECLDF, reports.
“The 13th Annual Formation Meeting was extraordinary not just because we celebrated it within our Jubilee (800 years since the confirmation of the Order), but also because our meeting was attended by a rare guest visiting from Santa Sabina, the Promoter General for the Laity fr. Rui Carlos Lopes Antumes e Almeida OP, whose wish was to be present at our Formation Meeting, not a special meeting organized on the occasion of his visit to Slovakia.
The universality of our Church and the Order was underlined by the presence of other foreign guests who accepted our invitation: Lay Dominicans from the Czech Republic and Poland. Thanks to all these guests, during the solemn vigil in addition to Slovak we also heard the Polish, Czech and English languages.
Solemn Mass was presided by P. Thomas Gerboc SVD, who urged us in his homily to be like honey, which can be used to perfectly sweeten tea. An essential part of the ceremony was the old Dominican Rite of Blessing of the Roses, which were also this year provided by Eva Jana and Jozef Dominik Kozík´s.
The meeting ended on Sunday after lunch. The organization of next year’s Formation Meeting will be by the Fraternity of St. Catherine of Siena from Trnava.”
A detailed report of the meeting has been written by Jiri Reginald Machačík, socius of the Provincial President from the Czech Republic. And of course there are more photos of this special meeting!
