A chain of preachers of hope : five beautiful stories

28th May 2016Activity 2014-2017By Webmaster ECLDF

How to give hope today? How – living in the school of St Dominic – can we help people we meet every day? Do we really need to go to the world’s end to preach the Gospel? In the ‘Chain of preachers of hope’ the Lay Dominicans of the province of Poland are telling us five stories of hope.

Old and New
A true story of how our sister, lay Dominican Małgorzata Maria Manado, saved an old shrine – a part of her family heritage. How she had it restored and furnished with a newly carved statue of Mary, the Tender Mother.

Bogusia
One of many ways of giving hope is to serve people who are alone or sick. A few members of our Fraternity help people living in a nursing home. Let me share some of my reflections with you.

Icon – window to God
At least two lay Dominicans from Poland use their talents to preach the Gospel by painting holy icons. This is their way to share their faith and hope with those who have doubts or suffer from some spiritual crisis. Their icons help people to pray, to meet God, to talk with Him and get filled with His peace and grace.

Małgorzata Wałejko
2016-14 Razem czy osobnoMałgorzata Wałejko is a lay Dominican in the Fraternity dedicated to Blessed Jordan and Diana (Szczecin – Poland). She is an educationalist and theologian and works at the University of Szczecin as a lecturer. Apart from scientific creation, she gives public lectures on spirituality and undertakes some journalistic activities. M. Wałejko is the author of two popular science books on theology.

Ms. Blanka
And read last but not least the story of Ms. Blanka, a remarkable little lady, who knows about the valiant struggle with the world and who became friends with a Lay Dominican.

The Chain:
Each Province/Vicariate is invited to share their stories and/or pictures with a next Province/Vicariate, if possible with a meeting. That Province/Vicariate invites the next Province/Vicariate, etc. For the Chain there is a
route with a timetable, which can be used. If every Province/Vicariate also sends their stories and pictures to the ECLDF website, we will create, in this way, a real chain of preachers of hope throughout Europe until the next Assembly October 2017 in Fatima.

Here you will find the announcement of the Chain and also an overview of all the contributions.
