Acts of 9th European Assembly of Lay Dominican Fraternities
On Wednesday the 21th of May all the delegates arrived at the Collogio San Tommaso. It’s a friendly and warm welcome and it is wonderful to meet unknown people as your brother and sister. The last preparations are made before the start of the Assembly tomorrow.
In the morning it was still very quiet, but in the evening all the participants of the Assembly were there. The participants were welcomed by the council members Ruth Anne Henderson, Jean Michel Solente, Leny Beemer – De Vos, Eva Zudorova and José Antonio Munoz Mata. Of course Brother Rui Lopes, the general promotor for laity is also there. TORCHBEARERS: crossing borders” is the theme of this Assembly, which is held every four year.
This day everybody was free to go; there was no programme. Some went into the beautiful old city. During the last Assembly in Caleruega it was decided to have the next Assembly in Bologna: after the village where St. Dominic was born, now the city where he died. It was also a good time to visit the basilica, buy biscuits for tomorrow coffee or just rest in the room. Most of the participants joined in the vespers of the brethren at the tomb of St. Dominic.
