Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Lay Dominican Fraternities in Europe!
As we all are aware, the feast of Christ the King, the celebration of Christ’s way of being a King and his manner of governing the word, is near. To follow this manner is one of the most important duties of all Christians, including us, the Lay Dominicans. This particular task is also the most difficult one. That is the main reasons, why we want to discuss this constant challenge during our next European Meeting held in May 2004 (from May 31 to June 6th).
But before speaking about the Meeting, we would like to thank all the Provinces that sent us a financial contribution, as well as all of you who are in touch with us. As you know our homepage on the Internet is always updated. There you can find some important information, as well as interesting news and articles.
In Fognano, three years ago, Germany was chosen for this next meeting. The German Lay Dominicans are very happy to receive us in Walberberg (at a Dominican convent) and are working a lot so that it will be a successful and fraternal meeting.
Enclosed we are sending you a photo of the congress center and a map of the part of Germany where Walberberg is located.
If you are planning on arriving by plane, the best airport for you is Köln, although Düsseldorf can also be considered as a good possibility. If you only want to fly until Frankfurt, then you have to take the train to Köln (there is a railway station at the Frankfurt Airport).
After receiving your registration forms, we will try to organize the transportations from Köln, or Düsseldorf , to Walberberg.
The price we are asking for includes only the total price of the accommodation. We have asked some Foundations for financial help, but until now no response was given to our requests. If the Foundations decline their help, the meeting will probably cost you some Euros more (probably) the amount of 100 to 150 Euros). We will tell you during March of April 2004 the exact price and you can pay the rest in Walberberg.
We want to remember you that a new European Council will be elected. It is very important to have a Council with people who can work well together, as a team. That is the case with the present Council. We are very happy to work together whenever we meet and we are also in a constant communication with each other via e-mail. At the beginning we were strange to each other. Now we are friends. It costs a lot of our time, but we know that we are doing an important work, even if others don’t see a lot of what we actually do. One of the things that is visible to everyone is the website we have on the Internet. Nikolett is completely responsible for it. A sign that our work is worth full, is that several people from different countries have contacted us through the website, showing a lot of interest on knowing more about the lay Dominicans! In case you forgot it, the homepage addresses are:
So the elections will be an important moment of the meeting, and as you aware, out statues have a strict regulamentation regarding this important decision. Enclosed, a copy from the part of the Statutes regarding the election will also be sent, so that you know exactly what is necessary. If you have any questions, please contact anyone of us. Here are the e-mail addresses:

Eva Kameniarova: evakameniarova@stonline.sk
Nikolett Muranyi: nikolett.muranyi@vnet.hu
Giovanna Cella Gava : bonchio@tiscali.it
We expect three persons from each province (two lay persons and the religious assistant). During the assembly English will be the official language, with translation into German and French. We ask you to send people who are able to speak and understand one of these three languages.
We also want to ask you to send, together with the registration form, a copy from your directory. If you don’t have it in English, then please send it in your own language. This is very important, because we will need them for a workshop. Thank you!
Fill and print a registration form for each participant and then send them if possible, together (the three registrations) until the 20th of January. PLEASE, don’t forget to transfer the money to the ECLDF account!!
THE NEW ACCOUNT IS AT: Banca Generali SpA

As usual, we will have a “special” evening and therefore, we ask you to bring the flag of your country, photos of Dominican events, one bottle of some national drink per delegate and to prepare a “nice” song!!!
I would be grateful if you would kindly let me have your registration forms by the 20th of January (please, send it earlier, if possible!).
May God bless you
Your sister in Christ and St. Dominic
